What is The Gospel?

The Gospel directly translates to "Good news," this good news is that God has provided a way of salvation for humans, through His Son, Jesus.

But, why did God have to provide a way for "salvation?" What exactly is salvation?

Salvation is the gift of eternal life, in other words, salvation is the gift of Heaven.

Humans have both a physical body, as well as a soul. Our soul does not die, when our bodies die—It lives on forever. When we die we either go to Heaven, or we go to Hell. We will be judged by God on the basis of our actions here on Earth.

Many people think that they are a good person, and that, we'll all go to Heaven—because "Hey, at least we weren't Hitler."

Do you think you are a good person? If so what makes you say that? Do you think if you were to die right now, you would go to heaven?

If so let's test your goodness and see.

1. How many lies have you told?

-A lot, right? Therefore you're a liar.

2. Have you ever stolen something, even if it was small?

-That piece of candy you stole, makes you a thief—but you're a lying thief.

3. Have you ever been jealous of someone else?

-Of course you have, we all have.

——————————

Do you still think you are a good person?

You admitted that you are a lying, envious thief. But the thing is, these are all human flaws. We lie and cheat, and steal. We have to teach our children how to be good, not bad. It's human nature to be innately bad. So it doesn't seem fair, right?

Once again: "at least I wasn't Hitler, at least I didn't murder someone, and at least I didn't rape someone."

However, God's standards are not man's standards, God sees all sin the same.

God outlines His Holiness and His rules in the form of the 10 commandments. You were tested on 3 of them. The Bible says to fail one part of the law is to fail all of it. The 10 commandments are the law, and it will be what God uses to judge all of us when we die.

"Does that mean everyone is going to Hell?"

-Sort of...

You see we all deserve Hell, as we've broken His commandments. God is a Holy God, and He is Perfect. He is not compatible with sin and therefore we can't be with Him in Heaven. We've broken His rules, and we can't fix it. What's done is done.

But you say to yourself that you'll do better, and you'll repent and God will forgive you. That you will tithe to the Church and do charity work.

But the Bible says:

"We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags"

-Isaiah 64:6

&

"…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

-Romans 3:23

——————————

God is a loving God and He is a long-suffering God, He is also forgiving, and merciful, but He is a God of Judgement and Justice. We have all violated His law, and as a righteous and fair Judge, He must punish us. You cannot bribe a righteous Judge with works.

It's the equivalent of someone being tried for brutal rape and murder, and they say "Judge, I've committed this heinous act, but I won't do it again. I promise I'll do charity work and be on my best behavior. I'm terribly sorry... Also here's $10 go buy yourself something nice!"

Crimes must be paid regardless of repentance or good works you promise to do, and God is the most righteous Judge.

What Did God Do?

But, God knows that we can't fulfill the law. He is too Holy and Good, and we are unworthy to have a relationship with Him. There is a big gap between humanity and God.

As a result, God sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus, down to the Earth.

Jesus is God in the flesh! Jesus came into the world through the virgin Mary. This is important because we all inherit sin from our earthly father. Just as we have all inherited Adam's sin.

Jesus was born without sin and He lived a life without sin. Jesus was totally and fully sinless and lived a life that all humans have failed to live.

He was obedient even to the point of death. He gave His own life up because of His love for you.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

-Romans 6:23

When Jesus died on the cross He said "It is finished," He said this because He fulfilled the Law (10 commandments) and paid for our sins.

Sin results in death and we all face physical death, the result of sin. He paid the price for our sins. He has paid our debt/wages, and because of Him, we are able to be seen as innocent in God's eyes. When we believe in Jesus, God no longer sees our sins against Him. He only sees the precious blood of His Son, Jesus.

When Jesus died on the cross He paid the penalty for all our sins. He bought us out of slavery to sin and Hell! (We are slaves to our sin. Think about addictions, ie, pornography, drugs, etc, how they control us. He freed us from sin, and gives us everlasting life!)

He died for you so that you might be with Him in Heaven. He took all of the punishment, as well as all the torture for us. All out of His love for you.

What Must I Do To Go To Heaven?

The only requirement on our part is that we must believe in Jesus and what He has done for us. We must understand that we are given a new life through Him and that He is our life.  He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us.

Accept the gift! His love alone saves you. Not religion, church membership, or your family.  God loves you, and the gift is waiting!

God grants forgiveness and salvation to all those who place their faith in Jesus—trusting His death as the payment for our sins.

“whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

-Romans 10:13

&

"…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

-Romans 10:9

If you’ve never committed your life, soul, and eternal destiny to Jesus Christ then do it now! Turn to God through Jesus and He will give you a new heart and a new direction which will be your peace.

“God, I know I’m a sinner, I’m lost, and I need to be saved.  I know I can’t save myself, so right now, once and for all, I trust You to save me.  Come into my heart, forgive my sin, and make me Your child.  I give You my life.  I will live for You as You give me strength.
